Blockchain Use Cases and Their Feasibility

Abstract: The goal of the paper is to provide a vague summary of currently existing blockchain use cases in the information technology industry. Respective use cases have been examined in already existing scientific papers, Master Theses, industry white papers and blogs of industry experts. The paper also contains a description of blockchain main technological aspects and working principles, which allows making the assessment of the presented use cases. For each use case respective companies or organisations are added t… Show more

“…The counterfeiters can copy generic products easily and quickly as long as they have the suitable 3D printers and 3D models that could be downloaded online or acquired through reverse engineering. General Electric (GE) filed a patent on a database platform based on the block-chain technology, an append-only transaction ledger [8], against the threat from 3D printed fake components [9]. European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) is also aware of this threat caused by new technical development [10].…”

“…Alanyazında sayısı hızla artan blokzinciri konulu çalışmalar incelendiğinde çok gerçekçi olmayan öneriler ve beklentilere rastlamak mümkündür [7]. Bu araştırmanın amacı kapsamlı bir alanyazın taraması ile blokzinciri teknolojisini doğru tanıtmak, ulusal alanyazında yer alan eksikliği gidermek ve farklı alanlardan iyi uygulamaları tanıtarak araştırmacılara konu üzerinde düşünmelerine yardımcı olmaktır.…”

“…Voting on Blockchains is a comparatively young but quite fruitful area of research [1,2,18]. In a similar vein, but related to a very different area of computer science, one could also draw parallels between our pattern and MapReduce [6], with the Map phase being the off-chained computation and the Reduce step as the election of a final solution by a Blockchain.…”
