Blockchain technology in supply chain management: an empirical study of the factors affecting user adoption/acceptance

Abstract: Blockchain overcomes numerous complicated problems related to confidentiality, integrity, availability of fast and secure distributed systems. Using data from a cross-sectoral survey of 449 industries, we investigate factors that hinder or facilitate blockchain adoption in supply chains. To capture the most vital aspects of blockchain adoption in supply chains, our conceptual model integrates the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model with the tasktechnology fit (TTF) and information … Show more

“…Blockchain's role within supply chain has gained increasing attention from researchers and practitioners in recent times. A number of purported benefits have been listed, including smart contracts, product traceability, enforcement tracking, stock control, transaction and settlement, and information immutability [6]. Extant literature has identified a number of areas and applications within supply chain and supply chain management.…”

“…Various theories have been forwarded in the past to elucidate the factors that drive information technology adoption. Many of these examine the motivation behind user behaviour like the technology acceptance model (TAM), the task-technology fit (TTF) theory, the diffusion of innovation (DOI) theory, the theory of reasoned action (TRA), the theory of planned behaviour (TPB), the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTUAT), and social cognitive theory (SCT) [6]. Other theories espoused include the perceived e-readiness model and assimilation theory [40].…”
