Blockchain Identities: Notational Technologies for Control and Management of Abstracted Entities

Abstract: This paper argues that many so‐called digital technologies can be construed as notational technologies, explored through the example of Monegraph, an art and digital asset management platform built on top of the blockchain system originally developed for the cryptocurrency bitcoin. As the paper characterizes it, a notational technology is the performance of syntactic notation within a field of reference, a technologized version of what Nelson Goodman called a “notational system.” Notational technologies produc… Show more

“…Given the scale of transactions carried out by SSCs, the introduction of blockchain The implementation of blockchain technology in SSCs enables complete digitization of the service provided and thus reduces the consumption of office supplies and activities related to document transport to the necessary minimum [66][67][68][69]. The essence of shared services in the area of accounting, payroll and taxation is providing fast and efficient document flow.…”

“…In previous sections, we learned that the Disruptive behaviour of blockchains is due to their complex system nature [12] and that their Distributed nature is because blockchains are infinite state machines [17]. When it comes to Decentralisation, we will learn that the lack of a central authority and its replacement by a blockchain-based democratic organisation is possible because of their embedded notational combinatory logic [21]. Combinatory logic is a notation to eliminate the need for quantified variables in mathematical logic.…”
