Blockchain Enabled Trustless API Marketplace

Abstract: There has been an unprecedented surge in the number of service providers offering a wide range of machine learning prediction APIs for tasks such as image classification, language translation, etc. thereby monetizing the underlying data and trained models. Typically, a data owner (API provider) develops a model, often over proprietary data, and leverages the infrastructure services of a cloud vendor for hosting and serving API requests. Clearly, this model assumes complete trust between the API Provider and cl… Show more

“…Finally, the authors implement their concept and demonstrate that confidentiality and integrity features are maintained for all parties collaborating within the ProtectDDoS system. In [82] authors propose a blockchain-based marketplace model for AI API access selling. The proposed marketplace, allows data owners to expose their cloud-hosted APIs in a secure way, allowing AI engineers to use ML models through the respective API.…”

“…In the literature, we can find several works that propose decentralised marketplaces for IoT using distributed ledger technologies to enhance the data exchanges with transparency, trust, and integrity [14][15][16]. Among others, decentralised marketplaces are being implemented in new disruptive scenarios such as artificial intelligence [17], smart cities [18,19], and connected cars [20]. In fact, the value of data is becoming more important in business interactions, which is reflected in the new technologies and their necessity to generate this new era of decentralised marketplaces.…”
