Blockchain-Based Network Concept Model for Reliable and Accessible Fine Dust Management System at Construction Sites

Abstract: In total, 44.3% of particle matter 10 (PM10) is fugitive dust, and one of the main sources of fugitive dust generation in Korea is construction work (22%). Construction sites account for 84% of the total business places that have reported fugitive dust generation. Currently, the concentration of fine dust at construction sites is being remotely monitored by government inspection agencies through IoT sensors, but it is difficult to trust that appropriate fine dust reduction measures are being taken, because con… Show more

“…The model established by combining the Internet of Things and blockchain technology can realise remote monitoring of construction sites. The authenticity of monitoring is achieved through the fundamental prevention of data forgery and information sharing of distributed ledger technology and decentralisation [5]. Taking the blockchain network as an example to conduct visualisation can verify the feasibility of blockchainbased construction quality information management.…”

“…Cho et al [114] used a blockchain network to manage air quality at a construction site using a fine dust management system by designing a chaincode, dApp, and network architecture. Also, blockchain has been used for environmental monitoring and control of carbon emissions [59] and other pollutants [115] in the construction field.…”

“…Blockchain technology is a secured digital ledger that generates and tracks data (Cho et al, 2021). It comes in various forms depending on the individual's objective, but the outcome extracted is instantaneous Furthermore, it can be noted that resilience has yet to be analysed with a circular paradigm.…”
