Blockchain as a service models in the Internet of Things management: Systematic review

Abstract: Today, blockchain uses a list of various blocks for storing a distributed flat of invariable information that informs of a set of replicated logical things in the Internet of Things (IoT). In the blockchain, a set of blocks includes various transactions containing a cryptographic hash value and a timestamp. Blockchain‐as‐a‐service (BaaS) as a new service in cloud providers presents an infrastructure for accessing users to execute, manage, and monitor blockchain applications without high secured infrastructure … Show more

“…However, the traditional blockchain integration approach presents multiple disadvantages (e.g., scalability, energy wastage, and communication overhead and synchronization, etc.). To address these issues, Blockchain can be used as a Service (BaaS) by IoT applications in the same way that cloud computing is offering Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) [34]. Numerous features can be created, hosted, and utilized dynamically in IoT contexts such as smart contracts, cryptography algorithms, identity access management platforms, identity-based consensus mechanisms, etc.…”

“…This study highlights the predominance of large IT service providers in the BaaS market, offering a variety of services to match the requirements of corporate customers, who prefer permissioned distributed ledger solutions, and prioritize quality characteristics such as performance, ease of use, and availability. In the same context, Daming et al proposed a systematic review of recent research studies covering BaaS models [43]. They aimed to categorize the applied scenarios, trends, evaluated quality of service (QoS) factors, new challenges, and open directions on BaaS models in IoT management.…”

“…The element of blockchain brilliant agreements enables to program the blockchain to oversee exchanges among members engagement while getting to the information 14 . An autonomous system and machine can learn and adjust to several situations after some period, and settle on trusted and precise choice results which are confirmed and approved by all mining hubs of the blockchain 15‐17 . Thus, such choices cannot be discredited and may be followed and confirmed by everyone taking an interest element.…”
