Blind Reconstruction of Reed-Solomon Encoder and Interleavers Over Noisy Environment

Abstract: Blind estimation of code and interleaver parameters is useful in smart storage systems and ubiquitous communication applications such as adaptive modulation and coding, reconfigurable radio systems, non-cooperative radio systems, etc. In this paper, we analyze Reed-Solomon (RS) encoded data stream and propose blind estimation algorithms to identify RS code parameters. We also provide algorithms to estimate block interleaver parameters from RS coded and block interleaved data stream. In addition, synchronizatio… Show more

“…Since non‐binary LDPC coded symbols belong to finite‐field or GF, the rank and rank ratio are calculated using finite‐field Gauss elimination method. From the rank ratio values, the corresponding combination of false[m,pfalse], which minimises the rank ratio is chosen as the estimated non‐binary LDPC code parameters mest and pest [16]. It is to be noted that p denotes the integer representation of primitive polynomial pfalse(xfalse).…”

“…However, the codeword lengths assumed in the proposed work were very small. Further, the blind reconstruction of Reed-Solomon (RS) encoder with and without interleaver was investigated in [16] for noisy scenario. In [17], a novel technique based on Gauss Jordan elimination through pivoting was proposed for the blind recognition of LDPC, turbo, and convolutional code parameters.…”

“…Some algorithms use the rank distribution of random square matrices, , as a criterion for blind interleaver parameters estimation [ 4 , 5 , 6 ]. In [ 7 , 8 ], they estimate interleaver parameters using the variation of rank ratio depending on the column length of the matrix. These algorithms are based on the fact that the rank distribution of square matrices consisting of codewords, , is far different from .…”

“…According to the methodology of the analytical and histogram approach, zero mean ratio values are used to estimate an interleaver period in [ 7 ]. Recently, normalized non-zero-mean-ratio values are introduced as a measure for estimation of interleaver period [ 8 ]. Also, blind interleaver parameters estimation algorithms have been proposed focused on the case of a short length of received data [ 10 , 11 ].…”

“…Regarding convolutional channel coded data, [15] estimated block and helical scan interleavers, and [16] estimated convolutional and helical interleavers. Further, [17] jointly recognized the type of channel codes and interleaver parameters, and [18] jointly estimated Reed-Solomon code and block interleaver parameters. Recently, [19] proposed a blind estimation method of a convolutional interleaver with denoising algorithm.…”
