Blackhole Tolerant Protocol for ZigBee Wireless Networks

Abstract: ZigBee isa specification formalized by the IEEE 802.15.4 standard designed for low rate wireless personal area networks (LR-WPAN). It consumes extremely low power for wireless connectivity which allows battery power to sustain for a long time. For routing in ZigBee mesh network, Ad-hoc on Demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing algorithm is extensively used. However the performance of the AODV degrade when the network is under blackhole attack. In this paper, a technique is proposed to detect and defend blackhol… Show more

“…In [4], authors conducted a comparative study of AODV, DSR and DSDV based on packet delivery ratio and routing overhead by varying the number of source nodes, the simulation result shows that as the number of source nodes increases the routing overhead increases largely for AODV and DSDV routing protocols. In [5], performance analysis of AODV under black hole attack is conducted. Based on the packet delivery ratio, throughput, and energy consumption metrics, the proposed method slightly improves energy conservation.…”
