Bivariate Rician Shadowed Fading Model

Abstract: Abstract-In this paper1 we present a bivariate Rician shadowed fading model where the shadowing is assumed to follow a Nakagami-m distribution. We derive exact expressions involving a single integral for both the joint probability density function (PDF) and the joint cumulative distribution function (CDF) and we also derive an exact closed-form expression for the moment generating function (MGF). As a direct consequence we obtain a closed-form expression for the power correlation coefficient between Rician sha… Show more

“…Due to fading, the strength of the received signal will show oscillations (even very fast oscillations) in time caused by the multi-path effects. Figure 1 shows a simplified fading model for a stationary source (emitter at ground base station) and a mobile receptor (vehicle) where several signal components are involved (see a complete description of fading modeling in [4][5][6][7]). A similar figure can be used to account for device-to-device 5G mobile terminals.…”

“…In this situation, the strength of the received signal will oscillate rapidly due to multipath effects. Figure 1 illustrates a simplified fading model between a stationary source (emitter) and a mobile vehicle (for a complete description of fading modelling, see Barts and Stutzman [2], Rappaport [1], Borhani et al [3], and Lopez-Fernandez et al [4]). Several components are involved; first, in the case of clear line of sight between the stationary source (emitter) and the mobile vehicle, no scattering mechanism is involved, although Doppler effects will be considered.…”

“…Um aspecto comum nos trabalhos anteriormente citadosé a inexistência da suposição da correlação nas componentes de sombreamento ao se analisar a combinação de múltiplos sinais na recepção. Um exemplo comum deste tipo de sistema são as estratégias utilizadas para melhorar o desempenho dos sistemas com a utilização das técnicas de diversidade [5]- [7]. A inclusão e análise do impacto desta correlaçãoé de fato a principal contribuição deste artigo.…”
