Bistatic Synthetic Aperture Radar

Abstract: Bistatic Synthetic Aperture Radar represents an active research and\ud development area in radar technology. In addition, Bistatic and Multistatic SAR concepts are tightly related to formation flying and distributed space missions that also represent the new space-based remote sensing and surveillance frontiers. This chapter introduces Bistatic SAR, in particular by comparing its peculiarities, operation and performance with respect to conventional monostatic SAR. Some\ud basic concepts of bistatic SAR image f… Show more

“…To simplify the situation, we have only considered direct paths of reflected signals from a point target for MIMO radar in this paper. However, for low-angle estimation, multipath and the deleterious effects of the atmosphere [ 14 , 15 ] play a large role in degrading the accuracy of angle estimation algorithms. Therefore, angle estimation for bistatic MIMO radar that addresses multipath and the deleterious effects of the atmosphere will be researched in the future.…”

“…BSAR concept in SAR for Earth observation and BSAR spaceborne performance are analyzed in (Moccia A., 2002). Application of a BSAR method increases the quality of imaging and improves the functionality of the imaging radars (Moccia, A., 2005). Bistatic configurations of synthetic aperture radar imaging systems have been investigated in (Loffeld, O., 2003).…”
