Bismuth Sulfide (Bi2S3) Nanorods as Efficient Photodetection Materials

Abstract: Abstract. We reported a simple oleylamine-mediated method for preparation of Bi 2 S 3 nanorod materials using BiCl 3 and thiourea as reaction precursors. The as-obtained products were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and high-resolution TEM (HRTEM). A photodetection device, which was based on a white light source of xenon lamp and a two-probe method using an electrochemical station, was constructed to evaluate th… Show more

“…As a general trend, all the samples show an increased absorption with a broad shoulder, which is blue shifted compared to bulk Bi 2 S 3 (953 nm). 62,63 Interestingly, the location of the shoulder seems to be strongly dependent on the particle morphology due to quantum confinement, being red shifted for NRs and NNs as compared to the spheres in good agreement with previous calculations performed by Koc H. et al , and Kulsoom R. et al . 64,65 Indeed, the sample S 165 120, probably because of its larger width, shows the broader absorption with higher values especially in the NIR region as compared to the S 105 0 and S 105 120, in agreement with the results obtained for a similar sample by Liu et al 10…”
