Bis[bis(pyrimidin-2-yl-κN)amine](dicyanamido-κN1)(trifluoromethanesulfonato-κO)copper(II) ethanol hemisolvate forms a hydrogen-bonded chain

Abstract: In the crystal structure of [Cu(CF(3)SO(3))(C(2)N(3))(C(8)H(7)N(5))(2)].0.5C(2)H(6)O, the Cu(II) atom adopts a distorted octahedral geometry, with the basal plane formed by two N atoms of one dipyrimidinylamine ligand, one N atom of the second pyrimidine ligand and a nitrile N atom of the dicyanamide anion [Cu-N = 1.972 (2)-2.021 (2) A]. The apical positions are occupied by an N atom of the second ligand [Cu-N = 2.208 (2) A], and an O atom of the trifluoromethanesulfonate anion [Cu-O = 2.747 (2) A] at a semi-c… Show more

“…The g value observed in this case is in agreement with a d x 2 Ày 2 ground state and in good agreement with the CuN 4 (O) chromophore [23]. Similar values have been reported for other copper(II) dicyanamide polymeric compounds [24][25][26].…”

“…So far only two X-ray crystal structure determination of Cu(II) compounds with dipm have been published [11,12] In this study the synthesis, the crystal structure, characterization and magnetism of the chloro-bridged zig-zag chain compound [ l-Cl-CuCl(dipm)] n is described, in which such intermolecular hydrogen bonding generates a 2-D network.…”

“…A ligand with interesting hydrogen-bonding properties is the recently developed ligand bis(pyrimidin-2-yl)-amine (abbreviated as dipm) [11][12][13]. The dipm molecule can both donate and accept hydrogen bonds, and has a more or less linear donor-acceptor array of the ADA type.…”

“…This type of hydrogen bond array has been observed earlier with this ligand [10][11][12]14]. Secondly, medium to strong hydrogen bonds are formed by the hydrogen atoms of the coordinated water molecule to the oxygen atoms of the formato anion (compound 1), and to the oxalato anion (compound 2) with OÁ Á ÁO distances of 2.799(3), 2.766(2) Å for compound 1 and from 2.732(4) to 3.125(4) for compound 2.…”
