Bis{4-[4-(dimethylamino)styryl]-1-ethylpyridinium} di-μ-iodido-bis[iodidocuprate(II)]

Abstract: The title compound, (C17H21N2)2[Cu2I4], consists of an organic cation, 4‐[4‐(dimethylamino)stryl]‐1‐ethylpyrdinium, and an inorganic anion, [Cu2I4]2−. The Cu(I) atom exhibits a trigonal coordination. The anions form discrete centrosymmetric dimers about inversion centers and are surrounded by the cations.

The Cu–I bond distances and I–Cu–I angles are within the range of reported values for such copper iodide compounds.
