Destes, um mostrou aumento no período de remissão e redução de sintomas para episódios maníacos. Conclusões: O interesse por intervenções psicoterápicas baseadas em evidência, no tratamento do TAB, vem aumentando nos últimos anos. Este fato contrasta com o baixo número de estudos dedicados à modalidade de atendimento em grupo, que poderia ser muito útil em instituições onde grande número de pacientes é atendido. A complexidade clínica dessa doença, a presença de diversas comorbidades e os diferentes graus de adesão à farmacoterapia demandam a criação de opções terapêuticas variadas que atendam às necessidades de cada indivíduo. Os estudos indicam que a terapia de grupo pode ser uma opção eficaz de tratamento que merece ser mais bem investigado para permitir sua aplicação na prática clínica. Gomes, B.C.; Lafer, B. / Rev. AbstractBackground: In the last years there has been a growing number of studies using psychotherapy approaches in the treatment of bipolar patients. However, little is known about the effects of these approaches. Objective: Evaluate the effectiveness of Group Therapy in the treatment of bipolar affective disorder. Method: Review of the literature using Medline, Lilacs, PubMed e ISI, selecting English language articles published between the years of 1975 and 2005. The reference sections of the selected articles, review articles and specialized books were also consulted. Only randomized controlled trails, with more than twenty subjects, were selected. Results: Five published studies were identified; three of them have been published in the last five years. In three of the selected studies, models of Psychoeducation were used, showing an increase in the adherence to the pharmacological treatment. One showed reduction in the number of relapses and hospital admissions. The other two studies combined psychoeducation with some other form of psychotherapeutic approach. In one of them, not only an increase in the remission period but also symptom reduction was identified, concerning manic episodes. Discussion: There has been a growing interest in evidence

ÖZETBipolar bozukluk, erken başlangıçlı ve kronik seyri nedeniyle kişinin mesleki, sosyal ve yakın ilişki alanlarında bozulmalara yol açan, hastalığa ve hastalığın tedavisine uyum yapmayı öğrenmenin kritik öneme sahip olduğu bir bozukluktur. Bu nedenle bipolar bozukluğun tedavisinde, biyolojik müdahalelerin yanında psikososyal müdahalelerin de gerekli olduğu görüşü giderek yaygınlık kazanmaktadır. Bunun bir sonucu olarak, bipolar bozuklukta hangi psikososyal müdahalelerin etkili olduğunun belirlenmesi konusu önem taşı-maktadır. Bu yazıda bipolar bozuklukta ilaç tedavisine ek olarak uygulanan bilişsel davranışçı terapi uygulamaları ele alınıp, bu uygulamaların bipolar bozukluktaki etkinliğini inceleyen araştırmalar değerlendirilmiştir. Anahtar Sözcükler: bipolar bozukluk, bilişsel davranışçı terapi, tedavi ABSTRACT Bipolar disorder is an early-onset, chronic disorder. It impairs occupational, social, and family functioning, which makes learning to adapt living with the disorder and its treatment critically important. Therefore, it has now become common knowledge that psychosocial interventions are also necessary in the treatment of bipolar disorder adjunctive to pharmacotherapy. Thus, whichever psychosocial interventions are more effective in bipolar disorder is a crucial research question. In this article, cognitive-behavioral therapy, which is applied adjunctive to pharmacotherapy, will be addressed and the findings of research about the effectiveness of these applications will be reviewed.

Randomized controlled trials of psychological treatment, principally cognitive therapy, for bipolar disorder have yielded inconsistent results. Given the status of this evidentiary base, we provide a more fine-grained analysis of the cognitive profiles associated with bipolar disorder to inform clinical practice. In this practice-friendly review, we consider evidence that both negative and positive cognitive styles are related to bipolar disorder. Cross-sectional and prospective evidence suggest that negative cognitive styles are related to depression within bipolar disorder, but there also is evidence that bipolar disorder is related to an elevated focus on goals as well as to increases in confidence during manic states. With such findings as backdrop, we consider the outcomes of psychological treatments for bipolar disorder and advance several suggestions for clinical practice.Keywords cognition therapy; bipolar disorder; mania Bipolar I disorder (BPD) is a highly recurrent disorder with severe consequences for affected persons. Even when the best available medication treatments are provided, many clients with this disorder continue to struggle. Breakthrough episodes of mania have been estimated to occur almost yearly for persons taking lithium (Keller et al., 1992), and depressive symptoms are likely to be present for as many as one third of the weeks of the year (Judd et al., 2002). Rates of completed suicide are 15-fold those of persons in the general population (Harris & Barraclough, 1997).Treatment guidelines place primary focus on mood-stabilizing medications; however, psychotherapy is an important supplement to pharmacotherapy for this disorder. In this practice-friendly review, we review the evidence that BPD is related to cognitive styles, and that those cognitive styles help predict the course of both depression and mania. We then consider ways in which current knowledge about cognitive styles can help guide treatment within BPD. Cognitive Models of BPDAmong nonclinical samples, it is well established that mood state robustly influences whether people pay attention to negative or positive information, whether they remember negative compared to positive personal memories, and how negatively or positively they describe themselves. It also is clear that negative thoughts can trigger and intensify negative moods.
