The granitoids of the Moldanubian Batholith (Moldanubian Zone of the Bohemian Massif) are represented by three main suites: I-to I/S-type Weinsberg biotite granites-granodiorites, S-type Eisgarn two-mica granites and I/S-type Freistadt biotite granites-granodiorites. As shown by major-element data and zircon with monazite saturation thermometry, partial melting of metapelites likely produced most of the Eisgarn suite (Mrákotín/Číměř varieties) at c. 775-825 ºC. Parental melts of the Weinsberg and Freistadt suites could have been generated by partial melting of a metagreywackes-metabasalts mixture at c. 740-940 ºC. This study confirms that the CaO/Na 2 O ratio could be used for source assignment of S-type granite melts, whereas the CaO/(FeO + MgO + TiO 2 ) ratio is more suitable for I/S-type granites. The observed systematic positive shift of Al 2 O 3 / TiO 2 temperatures compared with zircon and monazite saturation temperatures in all granitoids of the Moldanubian Batholith (up to 118 ºC) may be explained by accumulation of ilmenite in the S-type Eisgarn suite. In the I-and I/S--granite types of the Weinsberg and Freistadt suites the Al 2 O 3 /TiO 2 ratio is controlled by the accumulation of ilmenite and/or titanite. New data from mineralogy, geochemistry, zircon U–Pb dating, and Hf isotopes have revealed Late Cretaceous to Eocene magmatic intrusions in the Tengchong terrane and constrained the origin, tectonic setting, and characteristics of tin‐bearing and barren granitoids. We divide the studied granitoids into two groups: (a) the Late Cretaceous Zhinaxiang (70 Ma) and Early Paleocene Dazhupeng (65 Ma) S‐type barren granites and (b) the Eocene Lailishan A2‐type tin‐bearing granite (50 Ma). All these granitoids display Si‐ and K‐rich and calc‐alkaline characteristics and have similar chondrite‐normalized rare earth element patterns. However, geochemical differences do exist between the two groups of granites. The Zhinaxiang and Dazhupeng S‐type granites are slightly peraluminous, enriched in large‐ion lithophile elements (e.g., Rb and K), and depleted in high‐field‐strength elements (e.g., Nb, Ta, Zr, and Hf), whereas the Lailishan A2‐type granite has higher TFe2O3, high‐field‐strength element content, and Ga/Al ratios. The geochemical and Hf isotopic data indicate that the granites in this study were generated by partial melting of Paleoproterozoic metasedimentary rocks. Due to the subduction of the Neo‐Tethyan Ocean beneath the Eurasian plate, the Zhinaxiang and Dazhupeng S‐type granites were formed in a thickened‐crustal environment, whereas the Lailishan A2‐type granite was emplaced in a post‐collisional extensional setting attributed to slab break‐off. By comparison between tin‐bearing and barren granites, we propose that the Sn mineralization could be related to relatively high‐temperature and low‐pressure crystallization conditions.

Mineralogical characteristic of ductile–brittle shear zone in the Baguamiao gold deposit, Shaanxi Province: Implication for gold mineralization

The Baguamiao gold deposit in Fengxian County of Shaanxi Province is located in Fengtai polymetallic ore concentration area in the orogenic belt of West Qinling Mountain. It is a typical gold deposit under the control of brittle–ductile shear zone. The progressive deformation of brittle–ductile shear zone has been found to be closely associated with gold enrichment: the gold‐bearing sulphides pyrrhotite and pyrite are distributed along blastobedding S0 in the undeformed area, they are developed along phyllitic foliation S1 (//S0) in the slightly deformed area, along mylonitic foliation (S2#S0), or S–C foliation in the highly deformed area, and they are enriched along rheological quartz vein (S2–L) and joint quartz vein (S3) in the highly deformed and the tectonic fluid area. Researches based on electron microprobe analysis and mineral–structure–geochemistry indicate that the characteristic metamorphic mineral assemblage of the brittle–ductile shear zone is albite–biotite–sericite–chlorite–quartz–ankerite, with diagenetic and metallogenic temperatures and pressures spanning from 350 to 450 °C and from 0.12 to 0.31 GPa, respectively. In addition, greenschist facies in intermediate temperature and intermediate and low‐pressure environment is the metamorphic facies of shear zone in main period. A reconstruction of the palaeotemperature history, based on the biotite and chlorite compositional geothermometer, revealed an intermediate‐temperature phase, a high‐temperature phase, and a high‐temperature critical phase. Biotitization tends to develop towards an oxidation phase, while chloritization is characterized by development towards a reduction phase, indicating large‐scale gold enrichment and mineralization were accompanied by strong redox reactions in the ore‐forming fluid.
