Biosynthesis of waste pistachio shell supported silver nanoparticles for the catalytic reduction processes

Abstract: Silver nanoparticles (NPs) are immobilised on pistachio shell surface by L. leaves extract as an antioxidant media. The Fourier transform infrared spectra, X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy equipped with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscope analyses confirmed the support of silver NPs on the pistachio shell (Ag NPs/pistachio shell). Ag NPs on the pistachio shell had a diameter basically in the 10-15 nm range. Reduction reactions of 4-nitropheno… Show more

“…Agriculture wastes can be used as supports for biogenic MNP as is the case of the shells of almonds, 132,133 walnuts, 22 peaches, 4 pistachios, 134,135 hazelnuts, 136 wheat bran and rice bran 93 and seeds of Russian olives. 137 The catalytic performance of green Pd-NP supported on modified almond shells was studied.…”

“…In many instances, ligand-stabilized NPs are synthesized first, followed by the formation of shell structures by ligand exchange [86]. Different AgNPs with coating shells, such as metal-AgNPs, pistachio-AgNPs, silica-AgNPs, have been evaluated by scientists [109][110][111].…”
