Biostimulants Promote Plant Development, Crop Productivity, and Fruit Quality of Protected Strawberries

Abstract: Berries such as strawberries are recognized as a significant constituent of healthy human diets owing to their bioactive secondary metabolites. To improve crop sustainability, yield and berry quality, alternative production systems should be proposed such as organic farming and the use of biostimulants. Thus, we have compared within a complete randomized block design seven biostimulant treatments: 1-control, 2-seaweed extract, 3-Trichoderma, 4-mycorrhiza, 5-mixture of three bacteria, 6-combination of mycorrhiz… Show more

“…Table (10) showed that adding bio-fertilizer increased leaf nitrogen content by 1.44% at 10 ml L -1 , compared to 0.95% at no addition. Spraying nano-organic fertilizer at 3 ml/liter increased leaf nitrogen content to 1.31%, making it the best treatment.…”

“…Only after decomposition and change into formulae, compounds, and elements that plants can consume will organic matter in a soil assist plants.Consumer demand for certified organic agricultural products has increased, and the global trend is to use organic and natural sources of all kinds in fertilization, including a variety of organic biological stimuli with different nutrient content. The organic biocatalyst is a mixture of residual materials from plant or animal organisms and microorganisms that resulted from long-term decomposition [9,10]. It was shown that the use of low concentrations of these stimulants sprayed on the shoots or added to the irrigation water had clear favorable effects in enhancing the vegetative development and improving the production, quantity and quality of a number of vegetable and fruit crops, including grapes [11] Biotechnology solves technical difficulties and creates biological products.…”

“…Compared to the non-adding treatment, which gave the lowest value of 19.8 cm for the binary interaction between the bio-fertilizer and the nano-organic, it gave the highest value for the cluster length average at the 10 x 3 ml L -1 level, 23.1 cm, compared to 21.0 cm for the non-adding treatment. Table (10) showed that the triple interaction of bio-fertilizer, nano-organic fertilizer, and organic fertilizer gave the highest average cluster length at 10 x 3 x 30 ml L -1 , 26.0 cm, compared to 20.1 cm for the control treatment. Table 10.…”
