“…14,15 Studies have discussed factors causing microphase separation in PU, such as hydrogen bonds (HBs) 16,17 and the ratio of so and hard segments. 18,19 Thermoplastic PU exhibits high strength, toughness, and wearability, and has properties of both plastics and elastomers; 20,21 thus it can be used in various industries. Accordingly, the present study focused on biodegradable PU.…”

“…The incompatibility between both segments leads to their separation in microphases (Rueda, Fernandez d'Arlas, Corcuera, & Eceiza, 2014). Furthermore, varying segment content as well as the composition and nature of the reagents, different polyurethanes can be tailored (Tharcis, Badel, Jéol, Fleury, & Méchin, 2016).…”

“…One of the reasons is that the presence of PCDL prevents the easy diffusion and penetration of water molecules and results in reduction of water absorption . Another reason is that the formation of H‐bonding sites between hard and soft blocks prevents the swelling of the PU samples and subsequently reduces the water penetration . In summary, 30–50% PCDL loading reduced water absorption and enhanced the water resistance property of PEPUs.…”
