Studies concerning mycotoxins involve activities of relevant potential for furthering knowledge in the fields of toxicology and environmental analysis. Using bioanalytical methods (biosensors, histochemistry), the conducted research aims at contributing to raising the awareness of local, national, and international media in relation to the safety of obtaining and processing vegetal and animal foods, by analyzing the possible effects of aflatoxins and ochratoxins, promoting animal health, food hygiene, in view of ensuring animal and human health. The study using laboratory animals (mice) while being part of one of the current national research directions, also holds international priority, by its contribution to a better understanding of several fundamental mechanisms of life at molecular level and to the characterization of certain biological processes that appear in mycotoxicosis.

The electrochemical chlorate reduction at the Pt electrode in 0.5 M H2SO4 deaerated solutions has been studied using potentiostatic steady-state voltammetry. The kinetics parameters (Tafel slope, charge transfer coefficient, current density, and reaction order) were evaluated in function of chlorate concentration (1x10-4 � 0.2 M KClO3). The process of chlorate reduction is a complex one that implies two charge transfer controlled steps with formation of free radicals and an extent potential region controlled by the concentration polarization. The current density dependence of chlorate concentration tends to an exponential growth at concentration � 0.1 M KClO3 and becomes exponential in the conditions of the catalyst system presence. In the second charge transfer, a surface reaction between free radical �Cl-2 and platinum electrode with formation of complex anions PtCL42- and PtCL62- is responsible for the rapid increase of the reaction rate.

The influences of hypochlorite DM with oil ingredient and without it, which is introduced into the armament not only by the Czech Armed Forces Chemical Corps, but also by the chemical services specialists of the Czech Republic Fire Rescue Service, on a substrate consisting of a barrier material based on isobutylene-isoprene rubber (butyl rubber) were presented in this paper. Based on the repeated exposure of the substrate formed by the barrier layer material selected by this decontamination mixture and its subsequent rinsing, a change of the breakthrough time has been studied using the MIKROTEST method employing the chemical warfare agent of sulfur mustard and Congo red as a detecting agent.
