Abstract:Mist reactors offer unique capabilities to provide complete control of gases to in vitro cultures. This article covers the engineering fundamentals related to the design, fabrication, and operation of simple mist bioreactors for use in micropropagation and hairy root cultures, and includes lists of plant species successfully cultured in mists. Issues related to scale‐up are also discussed.
