Biopolymers: Programmable Biopolymers for Advancing Biomedical Applications of Fluorescent Nanodiamonds (Adv. Funct. Mater. 42/2015)

Abstract: Versatile biopolymer coatings for advancing fluorescent nanodiamonds are presented as unique magneto‐optic materials for biomedical applications by Y. Wu, F. Jelezko, T. Weil, and co‐workers on page 6576. The coatings—derived from a human protein—provide high biocompatibility and can be modified with various functional entities. Excellent colloidal and fluorescence stabilities allow monitoring of drug distribution and release processes, offering great prospects for theranostics.

“…When assembled with sandwiched graphene/porous carbon (SGC), the asymmetric supercapacitor delivered a high energy density of 20.4 Wh kg −1 at a relatively high power density of 9.3 Kw kg −1 . [27] As well as bulk LDHs, the metal oxides can also be exfoliated into negatively charged nanosheets. The combination of NiMn LDH nanosheets with MnO 2 nanosheets has been achieved by the self-assembly, and applied for supercapacitors in both alkaline and neutral aqueous electrolytes.…”

“…The LDHs discussed above are still in a nitrate form. [26] The exfoliation of high crystalline carbonate form Co-Al LDHs was reported by Wu et al [27] The Co-Al LDHs with a lateral size of 2 µm were obtained via co-precipitation in the presence of urea; and exfoliation of the above LDHs in formamide was achieved after vigorously stirring for 2 days. However, TEM images indicate that the exfoliated nanosheets display a multilayer restacking structure with the thickness of about 50 nm, thicker than exfoliated LDHs in nitrate form.…”
