One of the great problems of computing is preserving the security, condentiality, and integrity of the information. Biometric systems consist of
identifying some physiological trait of an individual, focusing on information security aspects where the objective is the identication and
authentication of individuals to give them access to certain information. The rst stage of a biometric system consists of the segmentation of the
area to be identied, which is why this work shows a methodology that allows obtaining the segmentation of the vascular network of the back of the
hand in infrared images, furthermore, the methodology allows to determine the skeleton of the vascular network.
