Biomechanical Examination of Osseointegration of Titanium Implants Placed Simultaneously With Allogeneic Bone Transfer

Abstract: The aim of this study was to conduct a biomechanical analysis of the early period bone-implant connection of titanium implants in the same type of subjects. In this study, 18 Sprague Dawley rats were used. Four rats were killed to provide the allogeneic bone before the experiment, and the remaining were divided into a control group and an experimental allogeneic bone transfer group. Titanium machined surfaced implants were integrated in tibias in the controls and in the experimental group; simultaneously, impl… Show more

“…More osseointegration was obtained numerically in the xenograft group than in the allogenic graft group. This situation shows us that xenograft can be used in block graft applications, and it is an alternate graft material to allografts 42. In this study, xenogenic bone transplantation and implant integration were successfully applied.…”

“…This situation shows us that xenograft can be used in block graft applications, and it is an alternate graft material to allografts. 42 In this study, xenogenic bone transplantation and implant integration were successfully applied. Besides, we think that xenogenic bone transplantation is an alternative bone augmentation technique for vertical and horizontal bone gain.…”

“…To ensure standardization in the study, vaginal smear method was used to ensure that all rats were in the same oestrus period. 17 Rats were kept in groups of 4, in a humidity-controlled (55%) and temperature-controlled (22 ± 2°C) room for, in 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness. They were placed in standard plastic cages and fed with normal diet and water ad libitum.…”

“…Treatment of bone loss due to many diseases including osteoarthritis, osteogenesis imperfecta, osteoporosis, traumatic injury, cystic and tumoral lesions is difficult and requires a long process [1]. Delay in bone healing occurs with a high incidence and this is an important health problem [2].…”
