“…In the present study, M. pancalus showed seasonality in reproduction, as had been reported previously (Suresh et al., ); however, our study differed in that it was done with fish from a river system for three consecutive years (April 2009–March 2012) and also demonstrated the histological changes in the ovary during different stages of the gonadal cycle, whereas the earlier study was done in a lake system for only 1 year and with no ovarian histology.
