Biological evaluation of chitosan‐based in situ‐forming hydrogel with low phase transition temperature

Abstract: The aims of current study were to choose a method for preparing sterile chitosan-a,b-glycerophosphate (CS-a,b-GP) in situ-forming hydrogel which had potential applications in tissue engineering and evaluated its biocompatibility and degradation characteristics. The results of sterilization stability tests indicated that sterile formulations could be obtained by ultraviolet irradiation of CS powders, 0.22 mm filtration of a,b-GP and lactic acid solutions, and sterile preparation of CS-a,b-GP formulations. The o… Show more

“…As described in our previous reports, the injectable CS-HG is a type of porous thermosensitive hydrogel (Dang et al, 2012b(Dang et al, , 2015. In present work, CMs or MTX-CMs were homogeneously dispersed into CS-HG sol at 4 • C to prepare the double-component composite CMs-CS-HG or MTX-CMs-CS-HG formulation.…”

“…Further experiments show CS-HG is of good biocompatibility and biodegradability (Dang et al, 2012a(Dang et al, , 2015. For this single-component hydrogel, we have no reports on drug-releasing properties yet, but one published literature shows burst release of drug loaded is also inescapably becoming a critical limitation of using CS-HG as a drug delivery system (Zhou et al, 2015).…”
