Biological Evaluation and Theoretical Study of Bi-dentate Ligand for Amoxicillin Derivative with Some Metal Ions

Abstract: In this paper, the complexes of Shiff base of Methyl -6-[2-(diphenylmethylene)amino)-2-(4hydroxyphenyl)acetamido]-2,2-dimethyl-5-oxo-1-thia-4-azabicyclo[3.2.0]heptane-3-carboxylate (L) with Cobalt(II), Nickel(II), Cupper(II) and Zinc(II) have been prepared. The compounds have been characterized by different means such as FT-IR, UV-Vis, magnetic moment, elemental microanalyses (C.H.N), atomic absorption, and molar conductance. It is obvious when looking at the spectral study that the overall complexes obtained … Show more

“…Meanwhile, new ranges appeared in the 430-578 cm −1 range (Table 2). These bands apply to the formation of M-O and M-N bonds to confirm the development of complexes [20]. All FTIR spectra are shown in Fig.…”

“…When the infrared spectra of the complexes were compared to the spectrum of the ligand, a considerable change was discovered as bands vanished or moved to other frequencies, and new bands were developed that were not present in the L ligand spectrum. The modifications are summarized below: the coordination of the metal ions to the nitrogen azomethine causes a shift-high in the frequency of C=N value [20]. The new bands indicated conversion of the C=O group in ligand from 1712 cm −1 into new bands.…”

“…The prepared compounds (1B-3C) were examined for antibacterial activity against two types of bacteria (S. aureus, and E. coli) at the concentration of (10 -7 -10 -11 µm inhibition) by diffusion method in Mueller-Hinton agar medium [34][35][36] . After one day, a zone appeared around each disc.…”

“…The FT-IR spectrum for free ligand showed five major bands 1620 cm -1 , 1581 cm -1 , 1222 cm -1 , 740 cm -1 , and 2893, 2903 cm -1 , returned to ν CH=Nschiff (24), νC=Ncyclic of thiadiazole (24), νCSC (18), ν CS (21), and ν (CH2-N) (25), respectively. Some of these peaks are shifted towards the high or low frequencies when they are coordinated with the metal ions.…”
