Abstract:HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) access to CD4+ T cells depends on the interaction of gp120 (viral envelope glycoprotein) with CD4+ receptor molecules on the targeted cells. Gp120 projects from the surface of HIV like small spikes and is the only extracellular protein on the virus envelope. The contact made between CD4+ T cells and gp120 is essential for virus interaction, but it also can mediate other effects, such as apoptosis or activation of T cells. In our study, we evaluated whether HIV‐1 glycoprotein … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
