Bioinformatics analysis of gene and microRNA targets for fibromyalgia

Abstract: ObjectiveFibromyalgia (FM) is the most common chronic pain disease in middle-aged women. Patients may also complain of migraine, irritable bowel syndrome and depression, which seriously affect their work and life, causing huge economic losses to society. However, the pathogenesis of FM is still controversial and the effect of the current treatment is far from satisfactory. (DEMs) were found between FM and normal blood samples. The pathway and process enrichment analysis of the genes were performed. Protein-pr… Show more

“…Researchers have found evidence elucidating the genetic mechanisms in FM. Epigenetic studies have focused on genetic variants and inheritance mechanisms in pain-related gene studies, DNA methylation, miRNA profiles as potential FM biomarkers, and hypothetical histone modifications [ 54 , 55 ].…”

“…The low expression of AKAP12 in FM patients may lead to the increase of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which was related to the pathophysiology of FM (30). Moreover, CD 38 is also considered a candidate gene for FM (31). The absence of CD 38 will lead to the development of astrocytes and oligodendrocytes in mice and affect the function of the central nervous system (32).…”

“…After data were standardized, the “limma” package was used to identify DEGs between FM patients and healthy controls [ 16 ]. DEGs with P < 0.05 and |log 2 FC | > 0.2 were considered statistically significant [ 17 ]. The volcano map of DEGs was drawn using the “ggplot2” package.…”
