Bioimpedance Detection of Oral Lichen Planus Used as Preneoplastic Model

Abstract: Introduction: Bioimpedance is a measure of the electrical properties of biological tissues. In the last two decades bioimpedance has been successfully introduced in clinical diagnosis of cancer. It has been demonstrated that tumoral tissues often show lower bioimpedance values than healthy tissues. The aim of this work is to assess the bioimpedentiometric differences between healthy and Oral Lichen Planus (OLP) affected oral mucosa, taking attention to the erosive form which may represent a potential pre-cancer… Show more

“…In this landscape, the authors suggest that future impacting researches should be performed by the scientific community. In more detail, the researchers should investigate on the main translational effects of YB in bone regeneration, as it could have a positive impact on the main regenerative protocols as well as in specific clinical conditions, such as syndromic conditions [42][43][44] or oncological conditions [45][46][47], or any pathological condition [48][49][50] where drugs should be carefully limited.…”

“…Future research should investigate the potential issues related to the biomedical applications of borophene in in more depth. A proper approach should primarily consider such protocols that need to take several clinical conditions into consideration, such as syndromic conditions [35][36][37][38] or oncological conditions [39][40][41]. Moreover, to translate such cutting-edge applications of borophene, scientists will need to perform more in-depth studies, especially on the durational stability and cytotoxic effects of borophene, with specific attention to its behavior when in close contact with biological tissues.…”
