Bioimpedance Analysis of L929 and HaCaT Cells in Low Frequency Range

Abstract: In this work, Bioimpedance Spectroscopy (BIS) is used to study fluids and cell solutions. A n ew fourelectrode- terminal (4T) chamber using 3D printing and stainless steel corrosion resistant V4A was designed to measure the impedance of live cell solutions at the frequency range 0.1Hz- 1MHz. At f < 1kHz the double layer (DL) that builds at electrode’s surface raises the impedance substantially preventing the observation of the real impedance of the cells. The new 4T design circumvents the DL, is more robust… Show more

“…They found that the resistance of the cancer cells was significantly lower than that of the normal cells, while the capacitance was not significantly different. Teixeira et al 17 carried out EIS using a 4-terminal setup to distinguish mouse fibroblasts (L929) from human keratinocytes (HaCaT). On a Nyquist diagram, L929 showed only one dispersion while HaCaT showed 2 dispersions, indicated by 2 semi-circles.…”

“…The diameter of HaCaT cells varies between 20 and 25 µm. [ 41 ] Considering the size of the HaCaT cell, the pore size was sufficient for the cell to settle. Moreover, SEM results displayed that the synthesized cryogels had a dense, thin, and interconnected pore morphology and a macroporous structure.…”

“…The PVA/Gel and P. emblica loaded PVA/Gel cryogels possess similar structures and pore sizes of 30-120 µm and 30-100 µm, respectively. The diameter of HaCaT cells varies between 20-25 micrometer [50]. Considering the size of the Hacat cell, the pore size was sufficient for the cell to settle.…”
