Show more

“…Among the 1,861 collections revised, we encountered a total of 574 species, including 28 species new to science described below. We detected 157 new country records ( Table 1 ; ) compared to the Catálogo (Sipman & Aguirre-C. 2016; Lücking et al 2021) and subsequent publications (Soto-Medina et al 2021), and 104 new country records compared to the recent Catalogue of Fungi of Colombia (Cossu et al 2022; Gaya et al 2022), in which 53 of the taxa identified in the present material had already been included. Some specimens could not be identified to the species level with certainty; these are included in the specimen table () but not in the checklist ( Table 1 ), although they likely represent additional taxa.…”

“…In the Cata ´logo de Lı ´quenes de Colombia (Sipman & Aguirre-C. 2016), by far the highest number of species was reported for the Andes (1,290), with much lower numbers for Amazonia (321), the Pacifico (280), and the Caribe (64). These proportions did not change much in a recent biogeographic analysis of Colombian lichens (Soto et al 2021). The situation is similar for fungi overall, with only few studies available for the Colombian Amazon compared to other regions (e.g., L ópez-Quintero et al 2012; Sanjuan et al 2015;Vasco-Palacios 2016;Vasco-Palacios et al 2018;Vasco-Palacios & Boekhout 2022).…”

“…In terms of lichenized fungi, there are few records for this ecosystem (Sip-man & Aguirre 2016). About 300 species are recorded for the dry forest of Colombia (Soto-Medina et al 2021), with new species in recent years (Lücking et al 2019).…”
