Abstract: Here, we investigated the optical properties of biocompatible supramolecular assemblies formed through electrostatic interactions between anionic fluorescent dyes and biogenic polymers. The dynamic equilibrium between the monomeric form (fluorescent) and aggregates (nonfluorescent) of dye molecules is responsible for the stimuli-responsive behavior of these polymer composites, which can respond to changes in pH, temperature, and ionic strength.
