Biogenic Gold Nanoparticle‐Based Antibacterial Contact Lenses for Color Blindness Management

Liya Jacob,
Salma S. Syed,
Muhammed Shebeeb Cherumkuzhi
et al.

Abstract: Biogenic gold nanoparticles synthesized using olive leaf extract were used as an additive in commercial contact lenses (BAu lens). Their antibacterial and colorblindness‐correcting properties were examined. To compare the properties, gold nanocomposite contact lenses were also synthesized using the well‐known Turkevich method (TAu lens). The breath in/breath out method was used to load the gold nanoparticles onto commercial contact lenses. The bio‐gold nanoparticles showed good dispersion and stability within … Show more

“…To address this issue, a planar substrate holder was used as a carrier for the capping layer, and another planar substrate holder was used for the microfluidic layer. Water-soluble glue was employed to secure the poly(HEMA) film onto the planner substrate, enabling the production of high-quality microfluidic channels. , Light or heat mediated therapy is an important application of smart contact lenses in the treatment of eye diseases, and the preparation of component materials in this respect is also a hot spot of scientific research. Figure d shows the main device used for ocular hyperthermia. MXenes are a class of two-dimensional transition metal carbides/nitrides.…”

“…In this study, we investigate the deposition of gold and platinum nanoparticles, initially in a suspension, on silicon (Si) and oxide of silicon (SiO 2 ) substrates. The nanoparticles were synthesized using the well-established Turkevich method [31][32][33][34][35], as well as an ionic method employing silsesquioxane as a stabilizer [36]. To enhance adhesion of the nanoparticles in the substrate, poly(ethylene glycol) 6000 (PEG 6000) was used as a coating agent.…”
