“…High-resolution imaging such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), or confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) proved to be powerful tools for biofilm structure deciphering, but they require extensive sample preparation (SEM) or image analysis (CLSM) and are not suitable for routine use.
