Bioeconomy and Livestock Production Nexus: A Bibliometric Network Analysis

Abstract: Over the last couple of decades, the livestock production systems of the agri-food sector increase meat production in order to meet the demand and adapt to satisfy the food preferences of the continuously increasingly world population. This fact, along with the promotion of sustainable production, has brought to light the topic of bioeconomy. The rapid increase in publications on the research area of bioeconomy has become the motivation for this study in order to analyze its relation with livestock production.… Show more

“…The topics related to bioplastics are gaining more attention and are increasingly more addressed by scientists. The recent science also increasingly reflects the bioeconomy and circular economy (Paltaki et al, 2021). However, most scientific publications in bioplastics focus on polymers processing, technology, resources, and other following issues, with a lack of attention on treating economic issues of the production similarly as in the case of the bioeconomy pointed out by Pfau et al (2014).…”

“…We perceive waste utilisation as a good and sustainable resource for the bioeconomy in general. Paltaki et al (2021) emphasise waste management, manure, biorefineries, fermentation, and circular economy as the future directions for sustainable growth and bioeconomy.…”

“…The term “bioeconomy” refers to the process by which renewable biological resources are produced and transformed into goods of worth, including waste streams. Livestock production is one of the main production sectors to which bioeconomy would be most closely linked [ 105 ]. In order to make the transition to a bioeconomy, it is important to recognize the myriad of interactions that can arise between various governmental objectives and the food industry as well as consumers, which may be solved with blockchain-driven innovations by providing framework for traceable, verifiable, and complete communication of bio-farming practices to consumers who are increasingly wanting to make eco-friendly consumption choices [ 106 ].…”
