“…However, geological differences may affect the growth conditions of fingerlings, and the economic levels of the different countries may affect the production input capabilities of the farms. Huang et al (2008) and Miao et al (2002Miao et al ( , 2009 reported that cost inputs and economic efficiencies of the culture industry may vary due to the different production regions. Therefore, this study collects ecological and economic variables of cobia farming in Taiwan, China, and Vietnam and employs multivariate statistical analysis in order to compare the culture industry production and economies of the regions in order to determine the key factors of production efficiency and provide reference for future cobia culture investors.…”

“…A production cost in aquaculture can be divided into two parts, fixed and variable costs. Since most systems of pond culture in Taiwan are quite old (over 15 years or even more), the farming cost contains a large percentage of the variable costs, including feed, fry, water and electricity, which account for more than 65% of the production cost (Miao and Tang 2002). Unlike traditional pond culture in Taiwan, the cost structure in cobia production indicates that feed, fixed cost, fingerling and labor in that order are the major costs (inputs) in the cage culture.…”

“…The fixed cost for traditionally inland aquaculture in Taiwan is not a major expense (Miao and Tang 2002). Unlike the inland aquaculture, the fixed cost accounts for a substantial part of the production cost in Taiwan's cage culture.…”
