Biodiversity and Carbon Stock in the SODECAO Agroforestry System of Center Region of Cameroon: Case of Talba Locality

Abstract: Abstract:This study was carried out in typical SODECAO (Cocoa Development Company) agroforestry systems of Talba locality (Central region of Cameroon). The objective was to assess the role of typical SODECAO agroforestry systems in the conservation of biodiversity and the climate change mitigation. Trees inventories of diameter ≥10 cm and all cocoa trees were carried out in 40 plots of 25 m x 25 m. Cocoa Agroforests (CAF) sampled were stratified in three age classes (≥10, 10-20 and 20 years represented by youn… Show more

“…These results are lower than the values of 200 indiv/ha, 250 indiv/ha, 475 indiv/ha, 225 indiv/ha obtained, respectively, by [30] in cashew plantations in the North-western, Southern, and Central of Benin. However, these results are close to the value of 100 indiv/ha and 139 indiv/ha obtained by [30] in cashew plantations in the Far North and North-West of Benin; But are higher than the value of 77 indiv/ha obtained by [31] in the Talba of Central Cameroon. They are also not close to those of [28] in Eucalyptus plantations (53.17 ± 0.08 indiv/ha).…”
