Biodegradación de colorantes azo por Pleurotus ostreatus

Abstract: The presence of azo dyes in wastewater from textile industries represents one of the main sources of pollution in the environment. Physicochemical methods for the elimination of these compounds have been used, however, there is no method that guarantees the total elimination of the dyes and the pollution problem continues. It has been propose the use of Pleurotus ostreatus as a biological alternative for the degradation of azo dyes. Keywords: Biodegradation, azo dye, Pleurotus ostreatus. “…Due to the foregoing, bioremediation through microorganisms is an environmentallyfriendly, efficient and even, profitable alternative. The valuable potential of various fungi, bacteria, and algae species for the removal of dyes have been reported (Cao et al, 2019;Martínez-Berra et al, 2018;Grandes-Blanco et al, 2013). Fungi present advantages over other organisms to this end, one of which is their oxidative mechanism, which avoids the formation of more toxic compounds, such as the anilines formed in bacteria-based dye reduction processes (Pointing, 2001).…”
