Biocontrol Potential of Some Entomopathogenic Fungal Strains Against Bean Aphid Megoura japonica (Matsumura)

Abstract: This research reported the in vitro pathogenicity of Verticillium lecanii strains, L2 and L5, and Beauveria bassiana strains, B76 and B252, against Megoura japonica using leaf-dip method. The virulence potential of these four entomopathogenic fungal strains of V. lecanii and of B. bassiana were compared between fungi conidia (concentrations 1 × 106, 1 × 107, and 1 × 108 conidia mL−1) and culture filtrate. Moreover, binary combination of four different fungal strains (L2 + B76, B76 + L5, L2 + B252, and L2 + B76… Show more

“…Three concentrations (10 6 , 10 7 and 10 8 CFU/ml) were used in this study, and their efficacy was checked after 2 days up to 2 weeks in laboratory experiment and the most promising results were given by the highest concentration. Trinh et al (2020) also used the same concentration against aphid, and his results were supportive to the obtained findings that the efficacy of EPF has increased by increasing the concentration. Time interval is also an important for EPF, as the maximum mortality was observed at 14 DAT.…”

“…The potential use of Lecanicillium sp. in biological control against insect pests of crops has been demonstrated by many authors (Kim et al, 2007;Xie et al, 2019;Trinh et al, 2020), as an entomopathogen. Many findings carried out the biological control of plant diseases by Lecanicillium sp.…”
