Biocompatibility, cell growth and clinical relevance of synthetic meshes and biological matrixes for internal support in implant-based breast reconstruction

Abstract: Biochemical examination showed good biocompatibility for the investigated meshes and matrix. All products seem to have their value in IBBR and can be recommended for IBBR.

“…[31] Furthermore, PP biomaterials may increase oxidative stress in cultured cells, which is in relation with inflammatory potential. [31] However, the use of novel SCTLAS was able to reduce this inflammatory reaction in host tissues 14 days after grafting and at day 28 with PP/PG-SCTLAS. This could be explained by the presence of SC in the SCTLAS.…”

“…In comparison to other MS, the TiLOOP ® sling is coated with titanium. The titanium-coated mesh has proven advantages with marginal shrinking characteristics, less inflammatory reactions than conventional mesh [6], and good biocompatibility [7]. So far, there has been only one abstract with preliminary results of the TiLOOP ® male sling in a prospective study with 25 patients published [14].…”

“…In contrast to other MS, the TiLOOP ® mesh is titanium coated. This is characterised by favourable bioinert qualities [6] and the advantage of minimal shrinking [7]. This is the first study to investigate the efficacy and complication rates of the TiLOOP ® sling.…”
