Abstract:Biocoating
In article number 2107559, Edith Mathiowitz and co‐workers characterize the effects of nanoparticles (NPs) interaction with gut mucins. Mucins biocoating alters the surface charge, effective size, mucosal diffusion coefficient, and the extent of NPs aggregation. The implementation of this natural phenomenon may improve in vitro to in vivo correlation and alleviate long‐lasting controversies regarding bioadhesive NPs and the appropriate surface charge for oral drug delivery.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
