“…In case of soft tissue damage with exposed tendon and absent paratenon, skin substitute can be considered a convenient and efficient option for immediate tendon coverage in terms of tendon function restoration and good cosmetic results [ 33 ]. For small wounds the use of free flap is not convenient as it brings additional costs and resources, and surrounding tissues are often unavailable: in these cases, dermal substitutes can be a valid alternative [ 34 ]. The simplicity of the procedure and a minor donor site morbidity are the most important advantages.…”

“…There are some biomaterials, such as silver containing wound dressing, collagen gel wound dressing, silicone derivative foam dressing, biologic dressing, and artificial dermis, which not only promote wound healing, but also alleviate pain and decrease infection. Unfortunately, these materials are not available in our practice.…”

“…Shunting should be utilized as necessary during the debridement process, which may preclude separate preparation of the amputated segment. As serial debridement may be required until definitive coverage, temporary dressings are often utilized to keep the wounds clean and to prevent desiccation [18] .…”
