Bioanalytical Method Development and Validation for the Determination of Levocetirizine in Pharmaceutical Dosage Form and Human Plasma by RP-HPLC

Abstract: This study describes the development of a rapid, selective, precise and sensitive reverse phase high -performance liquid chromatography method for the quantitative determination of Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride (LCD) in human plasma and pharmaceutical dosage form. Extraction of drug from plasma was done by employing optimized liquid-liquid extraction procedure. The sample was analyzed using Acetonitrile: Methanol: 20mM Ammonium Acetate Buffer pH-5 (25:55:20 % v/v/v) as mobile phase. Chromatographic separation… Show more

“…1 One example of such compounds is resveratrol (3,4,5-trihydroxystilbene), which was first isolated from the Japanese plant Veratrum grandiflorum. 2 This compound has demonstrated significant antineoplastic activity, 3 angiogenesis, 4 action against certain microbes 5 and inflammation, 6 activity against acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, 7 radical scavenging, 8 and platelet aggregation. 9 Other reported biological activities of resveratrol include antagonist action against aryl hydrocarbons receptors (AhR) 10 , enhancement of estrogenic potency, 10 neuroprotective effects, 8 cAMP phosphodiesterase inhibition, 11 and slowed progression of atherosclerosis.…”

“…The development of analytical methods must be based on fundamental conditions such as sampling, pretreatment sampling, and the evaluation of validation parameters in order to guarantee the quality, consistency, and reliability of the analytical results [17][18]. The pretreatment of samples is a decisive step in the development of the analytical methods of constituents in biological matrices and must guarantee the release of the analytes of the complex matrix, to be monitored by analytical signals with appropriate instrumentation [19][20][21].…”

“…Considering all proven pharmacological activities and their large number of secondary metabolites, this vegetable species represents potential candidate for an herbal medicine product; however, some challenges for the drug development and quality control should be addressed [13,14]. One of the most important requirements is an analytical methodology for quality control, since the raw material to finished product and in the case of natural products, appropriate standardization of vegetal drug [13][14].…”
