Leaves of Lannea velutina are used to treat several human pathologies, such as high blood pressure (HBP) and oxidative stress. Rich in bioactive components that promote prevention and therapy, herbal medicines are affordable and have no adverse effects. This work aims to evaluate the phytochemical profile, antioxidant activity, and acute toxicity of water, methanol, ethyl acetate, dichloromethane, and hexane leaf extracts of L. velutina by using suitable experimental paradigms. This shrub's leaves include sterols, saponosides, flavonoids, and tannins, as revealed by a highperformance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) profile. The methanol extract exhibited a significant highest total phenolic (533.9 ± 5.05 mg GAE/g DW), flavonoid (59.4 ± 0.6 mg QE/g DW), and condensed tannins (86.9 ± 0.05 CE/g DW) content compared with ethyl acetate and aqueous extracts. By using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging capability experiment, the methanol extract demonstrated the highest antioxidant activity (AAI = 2.60) among the other extracts. There was a strong association between flavonoid concentration and hydrophilic antioxidant activity (r = 0.96). The acute oral toxicity test of ethyl acetate, methanol, and aqueous extracts on mice was evaluated by using Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) guidelines 423. All investigated extracts exhibit a lethal dose (LD50) estimated higher than 2000 mg/kg body weight. This study constitutes a solid scientific basis that could justify the traditional uses of the leaves of L. velutina as a natural source of phenolic compounds for high blood pressure management.

The effectiveness of any herbal medication depends on the presence or absence of pharmacologically active phytocompounds. These ingredients are significantly affected by the quality control system espoused during and after manufacturing processes and the operation of such pharmaceuticals. Thin-layer chromatography (TLC) is a quality control parameter suitable to identify and codify substances predicated on their distinctiveness and uniformity, giving an identity for such substances. Paxherbal Bitter Tea is a polyherbal medicine harnessed as an anti-diabetes medicine. This study assessed the distinguishable phytoconstituents present and evolved attribute profiles (TLC) for the herbal (Paxherbal Bitter Tea) to serve as a quality control check during manufacturing for consistency and market identity. Qualitative phytochemical and chromatographic assays were carried out employing standard methodologies. The qualitative test revealed the presence of saponin, steroids, reducing sugar, cardiac glycoside, and terpenoids, and the finger-print chromatograms after progression with n-hexane: ethyl acetate (9:1) flaunted three dissimilar elements under ultraviolet light at 365 nm and five spots, when dotted with 20% methanolic sulphuric acid under visible light. In this study, we developed an identity profile for Paxherbal Bitter Tea via its unique chemical biographies, which can be exercised in verifying the quality and consistency of the herbal product.

Lawsonia inermis is a hairless plant growing in various regions of North Africa, the Indian subcontinent, and the Middle East. It possesses many medicinal attributes, including curative properties against infectious dermatoses. This study was carried out to evaluate the phytochemical profile of the crude ethanolic extract of the plant leaves and its fractions as well as their antimicrobial activities. The phytochemical profile was performed using high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Additionally, the phenolic and flavonoid contents were determined using the Folin-Ciocalteu spectrophotometric and the aluminum trichloride methods. Antimicrobial activity was tested using disc diffusion and microdilution methods. The presence of flavonoids, tannins, sterols, and triterpenes was revealed. GC-MS detected twelve compounds main compounds consisting of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids and phenolic and terpenoid compounds among twenty-seven components.
