Binding of the transcription factor MYC2-like to the ABRE of the OsCYP2 promoter enhances salt tolerance in Oryza sativa

Abstract: Cyclophilins, a type of peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase, function as important molecular chaperones in a series of biological processes. However, the expression pattern and signal transduction pathway of cyclophilins are still unclear. Here, we showed that the promoter of OsCYP2 could function as a tissue-specific promoter by GUS staining. Moreover, we found that the promoter sequence contained not only core elements but also inducible elements. Then, the ABA-responsive element was used for cDNA library sc… Show more

“…Thus, Sirvan has more potent antioxidative activities than Moghan3 in drought conditions. Under salinity stress, MYC2 - like overexpression reportedly enhances salt tolerance in transformants through several physiochemical responses, including increases in proline accumulation and SOD, POD, and CAT activities ( Liu et al., 2022 ). Similarly, TaMYC2 responds to abiotic (cold, drought, alkali and salt) stresses and increases tolerance in Caucasian Clover ( Trifolium ambiguum M.…”

“…In addition, regulatory elements in most HKT genes in S. alterniflora have more ABRE elements than in rice and Arabidopsis. Previous studies have shown that the ABRE element is involved in the salt stress response of plants (Liu et al, 2022;Narusaka et al, 2003;Zhang et al, 2022). It is plausible that the increased number of ABREs confers elevated salt tolerance to S. alterniflora.…”

“…An overexpression transformant of this transcription factor showed higher antioxidant enzyme activity in reactive oxygen species clearance. It is speculated that MYC2-like can improve the resistance to salt stress by improving the antioxidant enzyme activity and post-translational regulation of transformed plants [ 75 ]. The ICE1-CBF transcriptional cascade plays central roles in cold tolerance and cold acclimation in plants, and JAZ interacts with ICE to block the ICE-CBF pathway [ 76 , 77 ].…”
