Binding Behavior of Few Lanthanides and Heavy Metal ions with Proteins by Fast and Reliable Affinity Capillary Electrophoresis Method

Abstract: The interaction of two lanthanides Cerium (Ce 3+ ) and Gadolinium (Gd 3+ ) and two heavy metal ions Manganese (Mn 2+ ) and Zinc (Zn 2+ ) with various biological proteins Bovine Serum Albumin, Human Serum Albumin, β-lactoglobulin, Myoglobin and Ovalbumin were studied by using mobility shift affinity capillary electrophoresis. The used ACE method offers fast operation using shorter capillary, small injection volume, adequate short rinsing protocol and lower concentration of samples. The normalized difference of … Show more

“…Another important category is interactions with metals. The values of the binding constant of interactions are often given in the logarithmic form [75,79,83,84,[91][92][93] or are displayed using normalized ratios [94][95][96][97][98][99][100][101][102][103]. The examples of conventional ms-ACE applications are summarized in Table 1 as reported in Refs.…”
