“…However, no studies were performed on the effect of water stress on the composition of essential oils, phenolics, flavonoids, and antioxidant capacity of different populations of D. anethifolia in two consecutive years. As gas chromatography results provide valuable data with many information that is difficult to process based on univariate methods, multivariate analyses provide new tools for exploration and interpretation of chromatographic data [21][22][23] .…”

“…Principal component analysis (PCA) is a widely used tool in food and natural-product research. The method has been employed to develop techniques for flour [ 24 ] and honey authentication [ 25 ]. The effect of deep-frying potato and tofu on thermo-oxidative changes in cold-pressed rapeseed oil, high-oleic rapeseed oil and palm olein was investigated by Wroniak et al [ 26 ], and a volatile profile for Kumpiak podlaski dry-cured ham during traditional ripening was developed by Karpinski et al [ 27 ].…”

“…In order to investigate the relationships between the identified polyphenolic compounds and antidiabetic and antioxidant properties on one side and the different extraction conditions on the other, within a multivariate data space, principal component analysis (PCA) and Pearson’s correlation analysis were applied [ 24 ]. PCA is one of the most common multivariate data analysis tools for unsupervised dimensionality reduction and pattern recognition.…”

“…ARs were reported to be stable markers with strong genetic background, unaffected by environmental influences (cultivation place, season, farming system). 6 Pastor et al 7,8 succeeded in differentiating between small-grain flour (wheat, barley, triticale, rye, oat) and corn flour using soluble sugars as target markers, measuring them by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and applying multivariate statistics to the obtained data. The comparative study of Zörb et al 9 demonstrated that spelt had 27% higher content of cumulative free sugars than wholemeal common wheat, but our results, presented in figures, were within the range of sugar concentrations reported for wheats in other studies.…”
