“…After an introduction to the related research on thermal comfort and climate change, IFC-based BPS, and future weather scenarios, we present our approach for IFC-based thermal comfort simulation. This approach extends the existing IFC-based BPS approach bim2sim [9,10]. A set of thermal comfort parameters for template-based BPS model enrichment supports the presented bim2sim extension.…”

“…These space boundaries describe the virtual heat-transmitting surfaces in-between thermal zones and the building's surroundings, considering adjacent thermal zones and building constructions. While some studies discuss methods for generating second-level space boundaries for building simulation [33][34][35][36][37][38][39] or directly integrate space boundary generation methods in their IFC-based BPS approaches [39][40][41], other studies rely on the IFC4 schema-conform definition of space boundaries for the (semi-)automatic generation of BPS models [9,[42][43][44][45]. To be able to rely on the quality of provided space boundaries, a validation and/or a correction process may need to be applied, as proposed by Ying and Lee [29], Richter et al [30].…”

“…In short, bim2sim is a tool that includes methods and concepts to read data from an IFC file, convert it to a simulation-oriented meta-class structure by collecting as much information as possible from the IFC, perform various types of processes and simplifications on the meta-classes, and export the results to a simulation model. This process can be used for HVAC simulations as presented here, but we also implemented methods and concepts to perform Building Performance Simulation (BPS) .The basic idea was already published [15] as well as the application on BPS [5,16]. The workflow that is used specific for HVAC simulation is shown in figure 1.…”
