“…Biological tests. The serum total bilirubin was measured by the method of Jendrassik & Grof [6], the cholesterol by Pearson's method [7] and the total protein concentration by the biuret method. Protein electrophoresis was performed on cellulose acetate strips which were scanned after staining with Ponceau S. Alanine aminotransferase (L-alanine: 2-oxoglutarate aminotransferase, ALT, EC 2.6.1.2), aspartate aminotransferase (L-aspartic acid: 2-oxoglutarate aminotransferase, AST, EC 2.6.1. l), alkaline phosphatase (EC 3.1.3.1) and y-glutamul transferase (GGT, EC 2.3.2.2) were performed by methods recommended by the German Society for Clinical Chemistry [8].…”

“…The total cholesterol levels were estimated by enzymatic colorimetric method [13] , total bilirubin levels were estimated by colorimetric method of Accurex Biomedical Pvt. Ltd [14] , and triglyceride levels were measured by enzymatic colorimetric method [15] . This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Nalanda Medical College, Patna, India.…”
