Abstract: Cerebral ischemia with consecutive neurological damage is a typical complication in aortic arch surgery. Therefore, intraoperative neuromonitoring is of increasing interest. This paper describes the role of bilateral near-infrared-spectroscopy (NIRS) in detecting cerebral ischemia.
